Make the right booking

Mango’s published verification period has ended.

Mango’s official homepage still displays the period 22 June–22 September 2026. As at 1 October 2026, that end date is in the past. This guide has not verified an extension, a new deadline or whether the portal accepts further submissions.

If you have already registered a ticket or voucher claim, keep the acknowledgement and use Mango’s official contact and business-rescue channels to ask about it. Registration does not, by itself, establish a payout amount or date.

Check Mango’s official website. SAflightdeals cannot register, approve or pay Mango claims.

What happened

From two million passengers a year to a final wind-down.

Mango launched in 2006 as SAA's low-cost subsidiary and became one of South Africa's most recognisable brands — the orange livery, grocery-store tickets, the first local airline app. At its peak it carried over two million passengers a year.

The pandemic broke its finances. Mango ran out of operating cash and stopped flying in July 2021, entering voluntary business rescue the same month. What followed was four years of delays: funding that never arrived, operating licences cancelled in 2023, and a rescue that depended entirely on an outside investor.

In July 2025 that investor, Ubuntu Air, withdrew. The rescue practitioners amended the plan to a structured wind-down — paying creditors what remains rather than relaunching. The refund verification window ending 22 September 2026 is part of that final chapter. Mango now joins Kulula, SA Express and 1time in South Africa's airline graveyard.
